This is just to gauge interest. The party would be for you, Tumblr Whovians, so we’d only throw it if you think you could make it.
While there are no plans as of yet, we’d probably hold it outside of the convention center (so that everybody could come regardless of ticket) and it would probably be all ages.
We’d all get a chance to meet one another. And we’d definitely create something together that would go up on all of our tumblrs. And there’d be punch and pie*.
* ‘punch and pie’ not guaranteed to be actual punch or pie.
So I have the best idea ever after this slew of amazing commentage:Let’s all go TOGETHAH! Also, I have The Ashes here at work tonight and HOPE I get a chance to get some good reading done. And, you’re adorable and I love you. AND ENGLAND LET’S GO!!!
I so want to go to England with you! AND ITALY! We have a list!
And I can’t wait for you to finish The Ashes and hear what you think. You guys!! First of all, you two are adorable. Second, everyone’s talking about England and reminding me how much I want, nay, NEED to go. It was my goal for the Spring but things have changed. Sigh.
RAE! You so need to go. I’m sorry for the things that have changed. Maybe you’ll be able to go in the Fall?I was thinking about how much I want to visit England the other day. I’ve decided that I want to visit it with YOU! Deal?? =)
I’d love to take you to England. Vasant and I would show you all of our favorite tea places and museums and battlegrounds. Any good tour of England should be a mix of the super quaint and the ultra-violent. Like England itself. Both so adorbs! I wish I could also say that I miss England. Someday. Someday.
Someday indeed! England should be on everyone’s list.
Soooo… my epic idea….
We should set our sights on a DW Mafia England Adventure.
50th anniversary of Doctor Who (like we need an excuse, but it’s there).
I mean, a group of us are planning on trying to make it to Comic Con 2012, but why not set our sights on something bigger, more epic and a thousand times more nerdy?
(Any trip to England with me, btw, is going to be really nerdy, and I’m not just talking Doctor Who nerd-factor, which is more geeky… I’m talking history buff nerdiness.)
Can you imagine a group of us in England, mobbing the British Museum, tea at Fortnum and Mason, walking the battleground at Hastings where King Harold Godwinson was struck down by the Norman, William the Conqueror, touring the White Tower, a dozen different palaces and did you know there’s a village that’s entirely owned by the National Trust where they filmed Pride and Prejudice, Cranford, Harry Potter and dozens more period pieces? There are markets that serve the best food you’ve ever eaten, pubs where the best writers have bantered and drank bitters, haunted alleys and ancient forests… I wish I could say let’s go now, but let’s make it a goal to save up for.
OH! There’s also the Jane Austen festival in Bath, where you wear Regency clothing and attend Austenian frivolities, if we REALLY want to up our nerd quotient. Literary cosplaying. Although, if the male members of the DW Mafia! attend, I don’t know if that will make the itinerary, although Vasant, Will and Kevin all have been known to cosplay.
Anyway. Put it on the “Awesome List of Things to Do Awesomely in Our Awesome Future” List. And if you read this and exclaim to your laptop/desktop “OHMYGIDDYGOD I have to do this” then start a jar and start dropping your extra dollars in. Cause this would be pretty epic…
OHMYGIDDYGOD I have to do this!!!!!
yeah, just to be perfectly clear, I AM FOR THIS <3
